The whole time you were in court, the cop and the judge were being paid by your and everyone else's tax dollars, then you were fined another $200. I'd say they they came out WAY ahead even if it could have been worse. Not to mention the time, thoughts, and posts you've put into this ticket! You winning would have been the ticket thrown out and paid for your time at least. They get paid whether they're busting some nekkid bum covered in his own shit whacking off on in the middle of Wilshire and 7th or pulling you over and going to court (got that from an LA cop that used to be my neighbor in Glandale), which do you think they'd rather do? Sorry if I missed something, I just skimmed through the long post and that's what I got out of it.
